Budapest has been aiming to reach excellence in traditional industrial hospitality, and Hotel Erzsebet has been synonymous with this aim. Plans for a unique downtown hotel were originally laid out in 1867. More than a hunderd years later, major reconstruction expanded guest room capacity. In 2002, rooms were renovated and refurbished, and the hotel was fitted out with an air-conditioning system.
